December 6th 2014 saw this year’s Small Business Saturday.
This is when small, independent businesses in communities across the country are put in the national spotlight.
To celebrate this year’s campaign 100 business owners from around the country were invited to Downing Street to represent the UK’s 5.2 million small businesses.
Esther and Natasha from A4C were selected as one of the one hundred.
Here they are photographed outside the most famous front door in the country!
Small Business Saturday
This campaign is important for driving more business to local companies on Saturday December 6th but also creates a mindset for customers to more readily think of doing business with small, local companies. Thousands of people engaged with the campaign with huge attention across the many social media platforms. There were also features on the television in news and current affair programs, as well as in the press.
A4C were profiled as part of the campaign in October
We were delighted to meet the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, Minister of Business and Enterprise Matthew Hancock and Baroness Karren Brady, the government’s Small Business Ambassador at the Downing Street event.
Speaking to the one hundred attendees, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, said:
“Britain’s small business owners deserve our support. They are the ones who take the risks to create new opportunities and new jobs, that show off British ingenuity and innovation and I am glad that once again they will be able to be the focus of all our attention and support.”
Small Business Saturday UK has attracted the support of leading business organisations including Federation of Small Businesses, the Association of City and Town Management, Association of Convenience Stores, Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association, as well as corporates like American Express, O2, Lloyds Bank and NatWest and prominent entrepreneurs Theo Paphitis, Karren Brady and Martha Lane Fox.
